Notice of Vacancy 

Applications are being accepted for the following vacancy on the Non-Teaching Professional staff of Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy, New York.

 

Functional Support Specialist HV-NTP-944 

In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a physical and background check.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 1 year professional experience working in a higher education functional area OR Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field and three years experience working in a higher education functional area service role OR five years experience in database reporting and experience working in a higher education functional area service role; demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Access; demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years professional experience working in a higher education ERP system with a functional user area.

 

Nature and Scope of Duties: The Functional Support Specialist reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer and performs the following duties:

 

  1. Provide functional area service, consulting, and support in areas related to Ellucian’s Banner software modules and related ancillary systems as assigned by the Senior Functional Support Specialist.

 

  1. Assist with facilitation of training needs by supporting functional areas content experts.

 

  1. Develops solutions to business problems faced by assigned campus offices to improve user satisfaction, promote efficiencies, and develop best practices.

 

  1. Develops functional specifications and assists with testing and implementation of identified solutions.

 

  1. Support the development of a standardized institutional reporting structure and provide ad hoc reporting as needed.

 

  1. Provides consultative support, technical support and technical solutions on web applications, web site and database software issues, to fellow staff.

 

  1. Problem report resolution.

 

  1. Provides support for implementation of future Banner, SICAS, and ancillary system enhancements and upgrades.

 

  1. Serves as conduit between functional users and software development team.

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

          

The Salary Range is $43,000-$48,000.
