Job Description

The Inventory Team Lead demonstrates extensive knowledge and proficiency in Support areas of the operation. The Team Lead is expected to accurately and efficiently perform specialized warehouse operations. The team lead is expected to exhibit a higher level of responsibility showing good judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, techniques. This position leads the team with goal of providing 100% accuracy and 100% on time processing at the lowest possible cost in compliance with all policies and procedures. The Team Lead plays a key role in the accuracy of the SAP inventory.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee team to ensure daily/hourly goals are being achieved.
  • Provide necessary leadership and direction to the team, including guidance, training, encouragement, and coaching.
  • Foster teamwork, cooperation, collaboration, and strong communication to the team continuously.
  • Monitor IX Backorder List requirements and proactively identify needed units, parts and/or supplies.
  • Monitor established productivity and quality requirements at various levels of the operation.
  • Ensure orders are picked and delivered within the designated time allotment for service order picks and bulk.
  • Ensure bulk orders are prioritized according to area and need.
  • Ensure DOA optics are processed at end of each day.
  • Monitor and report employee defect rates.
  • Assist in determining causes of inventory discrepancies.
  • Routinely monitor and record processing times to establish production and efficiency guidelines.
  • Exercise strong judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ensure daily equipment inspections are completed.
  • Report any customer, operational or safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Responsible for specialized tasks in receiving, inventory, and customer service.
  • Protect and maintain the integrity of the inventory at all times; only move/release inventory with proper paperwork and SAP transactions.
  • Monitor receiving daily production and backlog, keep management informed of potential building of backlog.
  • Ensure RR or "hot" orders are expedited through the receiving and/or picking process.
  • Accurately maintain electronic and/or paper records.
  • Perform data entry tasks and run reports using SAP.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner, in accordance with company standards.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 18 months' previous experience in a high volume production environment.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months' experience in a leadership role.
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and inventory management software.
  • Previous experience using SAP, or similar warehouse management system is preferred.
  • Must be able to achieve cherry/order picker certification in our company program within 14 days from hire.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand documentation and follow detailed instruction.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively independently and with others on a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interface with the customer and all levels of the organization with a positive, professional, customer focused approach.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions.
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Must be able to work with numbers by retaining part numbers, verifying part numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, & multiplication.
  • Must have the ability to plan and efficiently organize multiple work activities with little supervision.
  • Must have the ability to identify the root cause of inventory problems and suggest improvements regularly.

Physical, Mental Requirements and Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 49 lbs. frequently, unassisted; must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand and walk constantly.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with fluctuating high and low temperatures.
  • Must be able to see and read small, fine print.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with moderate to loud noises.
  • Must be able to balance, reach, grasp, hear, stoop and be exposed to dust frequently.
  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, and be exposed to fumes occasionally.
