Job Description

Aleut needs an individual to assist in analyzing, reviewing and documenting the financial requirements of a project throughout its lifecycle. He or she helps the entire project team complete the project within its planned scope, schedule and budget, while serving as a liaison for the project's technical, functional and non-functional teams. This individual will have the following duties;



Required Skills
  • Responsible for the budgeting and forecasting of all assigned contracts.
  • Provides all aspects of project-related financial support to Vice Presidents and Program Managers.
  • Individual assists in analyzing, reviewing and documenting the financial requirements of a project throughout its lifecycle.
  • Helps the entire project team complete the project within its planned scope, schedule and budget, while serving as a liaison for the project's technical, functional and non-functional teams.
  • This person will assist in tracking work orders, assuring that everything from purchase orders to customer invoices have the proper coding, back up and approvals.
  • Responsible for gathering data, performing regular analysis and providing project reporting and support to the entire project team and home office.
  • The project analyst requires critical decision making skills, collaboration with project personnel, home office staff and vendors.
  • Program finance analyst job responsibilities include:
  • Understands financial impact of contractual, procedural and technical issues in order to resolve or recommend solutions to various levels of management.
  • Sets up project numbers in Costpoint and maintains/updates all project information in Costpoint, such as contract/funded values, period of performance, revenue/billing formulas, employee workforce, etc.
  • Responsible for tracking large volumes of work orders, assuring that everything from purchase orders to customer invoices have the proper back up and signatures.
  • Prepares Estimates-to-Complete (ETC) and Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) for work orders on assigned contracts.
  • Prepares all contract budgets and quarterly contract forecast updates, with the assistance of Program Managers for assigned contracts.
  • Prepares financial Program Manager Report (PMR) slides and support in the preparation of other slides included in this slide deck.
  • Provides ad-hoc financial reports to Program Managers and Senior Management, as requested.
  • Reviews all costs and revenue on assigned contracts to ensure accuracy of coding and proper revenue recognition.
  • Analyzes monthly/annual forecast-to-actual variances and provide explanations to VP's.
  • Prepares REA's (Requests for Equitable Adjustments) as needed on assigned contracts.
  • Assists with pricing tasks as requested, on assigned contracts.
  • Work with vendors to reconcile discrepancies to include but not limited to; invoices, site locations, cost structure and charges.
  • Helps the entire project team complete the project within its planned scope, schedule and budget, while serving as a liaison for the project's technical, functional and non-functional teams.
  • Gathers necessary target profit rate information every month as needed for month end close.
  • Prepare subcontractor accruals for the accounting records monthly/as needed.
  • Assists with both internal and external audits.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Responsible for adherence to and documentation of accounting procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Creating, managing and disbursing reports and back-up data related to the project
  • Budgeting and forecasting costs and revenue related to the project
  • Maintaining project records, communications and related data
  • Evaluating and monitoring the overall project
  • Reviewing and reporting the project's budget and financial status, including regular variance analysis
  • Performing complete or component analysis as needed
  • Notifying the entire team about abnormalities or variances
  • Participate in contract management and administration activities to include assistance with contract related change proposals, negotiation and documentation of project changes and integration with contract modifications.


Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field and five years' experience working with defense/government contracts.
  • Understanding of government contract accounting required.
  • Knowledge of contract types (i.e., fixed priced, cost reimbursable, T&M, etc.) is required.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
  • Extensive knowledge with government contract billing and financial analysis required.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint software.
  • Effective collaboration capabilities; able to work across all organizational levels, functions, geographies and time zones
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with defense/government contracts, with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Extensive knowledge with government contract billing and financial analysis required.
