Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Lease Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role is responsible for the accurate accounting and financial reporting of lease-related transactions across our real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lease accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain the CoStar real estate system data related to lease payments, landlords and lease modifications
Prepare journal entries, including accruals and reclasses, for lease-related accounting (e.g., lease renewals, straight-line rent and percentage rent)
Reconcile monthly and quarterly balance sheet accounts, including rent and CAM-related items
Support fact-finding and resolution of reconciling items across lease-related accounts
Assist with internal and external audit requests for lease payments and related accounting
Communicate to the field and staff accountants on lease related expenses
Serve as a backup preparer for weekly and monthly rent schedules
Support CAM reconciliations with landlords as needed
Identify and implement process improvement initiatives in regular tasks
Prioritize day-to-day tasks to meet critical deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Maintain confidentiality of all non-public financial and lease-related information

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; however, consideration will be given to other four-year degrees in similar area of study with minimum of 12 Accounting hours
Experience: 2 years related accounting experience preferred
Computer Skills: Proficient with Excel and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft D365, PowerBI and Cadency Certification is a plus but not required.
