Required Skills for Pre-& Post Operative RNs:

  • Current CT RN license required; Current NY RN license also highly preferred
  • BSN highly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in either a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting required.
  • Critical Care or PACU nursing experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

· Performs accurate and timely testing of patient and unknown samples, automated and manual testing.

· Performs accurate testing of quality control samples; ability to troubleshoot unacceptable results

· Maintain instruments per manufacturer's recommendation.

· Identify, report and document specimens that do not comply with the laboratory policies - hemolyzed, lipemic, ecteric

· Prepares specimens for analysis; centriguge and package as appropriate.

· Completes records, reports and other statistical data as required.

· Communicate appropriately with coworkers and providerss including nursing and physicians.

· Complies with safety procedures

· Other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Supervisor e.g. inventory control

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry

· One (1) year of related work experience

· Orientation in a Clinical Laboratory setting

· New York State License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist
