 NuAlta Technologies, LLC is seeking a junior software developer to support the Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) as part of the Science Technology and Research Support Services (STARSS III) contract at NASA's Langley Research Center.

The successful candidate is a self-starter with a computer science or engineering related background with strong programming skills in Python, Perl, and Shell scripting in a RedHat Linux environment. Knowledge of GIT and/or SVN. The candidate will work closely with several Agile teams at the ASDC to troubleshoot and resolve ingest, processing and data distribution issues. Responsibilities will also include integration, testing, and promotion of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTs) applications as well as working with external customers and stakeholders. Additional opportunities exist to support the migration of existing applications to an on-premise cloud and commercial cloud.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in computer science, or engineering, with at least 3 years of applicable work and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Detailed and very technical oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Python, Perl and shell programming skills in a RedHat Linux environment
  • Strong understanding of RedHat LINUX systems administration
  • Knowledge of Legato Networker or similar backup technologies
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Willing to demonstrate initiative in task completion and communications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a US citizen

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of RedHat LINUX operational environment (hosts, file systems, networking, etc.)
  • Familiarity with applications such as Apache, Tomcat and PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of storage integration in LINUX operational environment
