Progress Rail Services Corporation has available positions of Manufacturing Engineer/Engineer I in Corbin, KY.

Although the Manufacturing Engineer/Engineer I will work in Corbin, KY, the Manufacturing Engineer/Engineer I will be required to travel 15% of working time to Progress Rail manufacturing facilities & to customer sites throughout North America.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering & 24 months experience as a Liaison Engineer.

Position also requires: Exp. must include: 1) 24 mos. exp. as a Liaison Engineer must have been gained in a heavy locomotive equipment manufacturing & assembly facility(ies); 2) 24 mos. exp. using AutoCAD &/or NX software(s) to design & redesign locomotive parts; 3) 24 mos. exp. using SAP production systems to check bills of material, inventory, & production routings; & 4) 24 mos. exp. using C++ programming language. Exp. reqs. may be met concurrently during the same time period.

Job duties:

  • Optimize production line for main modules for locomotive including Cabins, Cooling hood, Engine hood, Generator hood, & Electrical locker.
  • Continuously improve process & design of new structures for locomotive components for different models & orders by following closely the fabrication of the components in production.
  • Develop programs for CNC equipment & robotic welding.
  • Solve engineering issues encountered in production by troubleshooting mechanical & electrical issues & then record changes using MCRs (Manufacturing Change Requests).
  • Use SAP production systems to check bill of materials, inventory, & production routings.
  • Also use SAP production systems to revise quantities & usage of parts & assemblies as well as revisions to include the information in the problem solving & issuing of MCRs.
  • Use AutoCAD & NX to redesign parts to solve issues in the production line & include the redesign in the MCR document.
  • Work closely with all teams including product & design engineering teams to correct & communicate design, processing, & manufacturing issues.
