Medical databases such as the Cancer Registry are important tools for medical professionals across the country. WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Utilize and maintain computerized registry programs (ERS) and coordinates Tumor Conference and Cancer Services Committee. 
  • Perform duties relative to coordination of research activities which includes maintaining paperwork, interacting with the patient and the sponsor and primary resource person for knowledge regarding the status of ongoing research activities at all times. 
  • Identify, abstract, and accession all reportable tumors including benign brain and CNS lesions, hematopoietic disorder cases within six months of diagnosis as required by the American College of Surgeons and/or State Board of Health.
  • Perform annual lifetime follow-up on cancer patients.
  • Maintain a 90% follow rate for all analytic patients diagnosed within the last five years or from the cancer registry reference date, whichever is shorter.
  • Report all cancer cases to the State of Indiana Cancer Registry.
  • Contact physician’s offices and other medical facilities for clinical, diagnostic and staging information.
  • Maintain copies of pathology biopsies, FNA, and cytology reports.
  • Print MPI lists for chart requests for follow-up and/or abstracting.
  • Update clinical information/patient status for follow-up.
  • Prints and processes follow up letters to physicians and patients.
