The Staff Pharmacist will be expected to read, understand and verify orders, obtain order clarifications, provide medication therapy evaluation, provide medication intervention when necessary, provide medication information to staff, including stability and compatability information, antibiotic, anti-coagulant, total parenteral nutrition initiation and management, order, check in and outdate controlled substances, admix medications as required, provide oversight for technician admixtures, assist the director in ensuring that staff has sterility testing up to date, complete all required CE and mercy education, keep a current Missouri pharmacist and MTS license, manage technicians in the absence of the director and any activities within the scope of practice of a hospital pharmacist as requested by the director.
Collaborates with the director in the maintenance, addition and deletion of departmental polices and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Maintains a high level of proficiency in ordering and interpreting lab results, maintains high level of proficiency in medication intervention and medication therapy evaluation.
Directs, checks and is responsible for all aspects of pharmacy technicians activities.
Manages compounding, labeling and packaging of all medications and pharmaceuticals within the hospital.
Ensures proper storage and inventory control of medications in the hospital.
Manages ordering, receiving and stocking of medications.
Ensures invoice information is properly filed.
Verifies medication orders with a high degree of accuracy and in a timely manner.
Is proficient in the use of vigilance and uses it continually for medication therapy monitoring and intervention.
Consults, monitors and writes orders for TPN.
Initiates, manages and monitors antibiotic therapies.
Conducts medication use and interaction reviews for all hospital patients on an ongoing basis through the use of vigilance.
Consults and compounds epidural pain medication in conjunction with the attending physician and CRNA.
Assists the director in the preparation of reports and compilation of information as necessary.
Provides pharmaceutical information to staff and administration with assistance from the director.
Collaborates with other health care professionals as necessary for optimum patient care.
Obtains information on investigational medication therapy, and provides compounding and information on uncommonly used medications such as provacholine, adenosine stress tests, talc mixtures, etc.
Provides poison control and medication use questions for hospital and community.
Maintains a high level of proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and other equipment necessary for proper operation of the pharmacy department.
Maintains ability to troubleshoot and fix problems related to automated dispensing systems and other pharmacy computer systems.
Performs duties pertaining to the handling and disposition of site-generated hazardous waste as part of daily job activities.

Education: BS in Pharmacy
Licensure: Active Missouri Pharmacist License Active Missouri MTS license
Experience: Clinical Internship/1 year hospital experience
Other: Familiarity with computer order entry and verification Familiarity with sterile procedures, IV admixture Proficient with antibiotic management Proficient managing TPN Proficient with lab interpretation Familiar with medication therapy evaluation
Preferred Education: N/A
Preferred Experience: 5 years hospital experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications: Immunization certification
Preferred Other: Proficiency with microsoft office suite.
