Job Description

The Dean of the Iowa City Campus is responsible for the leadership of academic operations of the campus. These responsibilities include supervising faculty, budgeting, programming, planning, and general monitoring of facilities. The curriculum is multi-disciplinary, primarily in the Liberal Arts and Sciences and includes courses in the Applied Sciences. The Dean is responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating all full time faculty and support staff.

This position provides leadership in academic excellence and community engagement.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and monitoring of campus goals.
  • Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Develop and manage the operational and equipment budgets.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of all reports and studies that are required.
  • Cooperate with other departments and offices within the college to foster communication and service to meet the educational needs of students.
  • Develop class schedules and make faculty assignments.
  • Serve as spokesperson and representative in community activities and service clubs.
  • Communicate administrative policies and actions to the faculty.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Five years successful educational work experience of which a minimum of two years must have been at the post-secondary level.  
  • Must have a minimum of two years teaching experience at the postsecondary level
  • Demonstrated educational leadership ability
  • Possess knowledge of trends and issues related to community college education

 Preferred Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations: 

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Previous experience at a community college as faculty and/or administrator.
