Laulima Government Solutions is looking for a qualified Senior HVAC Technician to support mission functions of the Zahl Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC). Description of Responsibilities: Perform daily operational checks of all HVAC and specialty systems and equipment in the entire building Respond to any and all HVAC equipment and systems related troubles and alarms Perform laboratory HVAC maintenance, and repair (VAV Boxes) Support preventive and corrective maintenance related work orders Technician receives assignment with a minimum of accompanying instructions concerning the work methods to be used May work directly with facilities engineer, researcher or testing personnel while maintaining planning and modifying a system to meet specific conditions During the course of the projects, technician is expected to do repair and modification to meet conditions which are required by technical personnel Consults with facilities engineer and program manager on problems, which are unique or are administrative problems such as the need for additional equipment Work with minimal supervision or with a team of air conditioning, electricians, and maintenance mechanics Tests, repairs, modifies, calculates, operates, maintains, overhauls, and calibrates small to large units Troubleshoots, install, tests, repairs, modify, relocates, maintains, and calibrates refrigeration equipment, air conditioning equipment, pneumatics controls and auxiliary equipment such as drinking fountains, exhaust fans, supply fans and smoke purge fans etc. Interpret diagrams, drawings, technical manuals, and other instructions for air conditioning equipment, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings and use trade formulas Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of complex HVAC systems and equipment such as computer room Liebert units, small standalone Heat Pumps in communication closets, Make-up air units and RCU’s for cleanroom environments and other HVAC equipment Use tools and equipment to include but not limited to, measuring tapes, grinders, power tools, cutters, pipe wrenches, volt, amp, ohm meters, thermometers, torches, computers, manometers, airflow measuring equipment, vacuum pumps and various hand tools Assures that work assignments, procedures, sequence, methods, and deadlines are completed on time Perform complex troubleshooting and calibrations on all types of AHU controls and components Must be able to understand and interpret sequences of operations and how they relate to AHU operations and make changes as required Complete required monthly safety and equipment training • Inspect and maintain all required PPE daily Complete assigned inventories as required • Respond to and assist in emergency cleanups as necessary Complete all online training as required Degree/Education/Certification Requirements: Maryland State HVAC or Journeyman Air Conditioning License CFC Universal Certification WSSC Backflow Prevention certification perferred Required Skills and Experience: Experience with Siemens BAS systems, controls and components Experience with Honeywell BAS systems, controls and components Experience working on HVAC equipment that utilizes VAV boxes Experience understanding and interpreting sequences of operations for air handling equipment Superior troubleshooting skills Superior analytical skills Experience with building, creating and working with preventive maintenance systems Desired Skills and Experience: Experience with Modicon BAS systems, controls and components Experience with specialty equipment used in cleanroom environments Experience working in and around class 1000, 100 and 10 clean rooms. Experience working in and around laboratory environments, fume hoods, lab benches etc. Experience with building, creating and working with preventive maintenance systems Clearance: A NAC-I will be needed to start; must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
